Comfort Colors

Comfort Colors began in 1975 in rural Vermont, when textile chemist Barry T. Chouinard started dyeing garments in a garage with a washing machine and a $275 stake. His aim was to bottle up a feeling—the softness of a shirt that’s already been lived in. The Comfort Colors name was later put on garment-dyed, ring-spun cotton tees, hoodies, and sweatshirts in muted, nature-inspired hues.

These pieces are favorites for custom t-shirts, campus and boutique merch, and vintage-look promotional apparel you can screen print or embroider. Heavyweight ring-spun cotton, pigment and garment dyeing, and a relaxed fit give each shirt a broken-in hand and color that softens with wear.
