In November 1996, Nancy and her husband Tony were visiting with Tony's longtime golfing buddy, Clint Eastwood, at his Mission Ranch in Carmel, California. Eastwood and Haley shared wine and discussed their mutual love of golf and Eastwood's lifelone dream - his Tehama Golf Club in Carmel Valley.  Aware that Haley had recently retired from Sport-Haley, a hugely successful sportswear company she found in 1986, Eastwood was curious about Haley's future plans. Intrigued, Haley asked, "Why are you asking? Would you like to do something with sportswear for golf?" Eastwood looked her in the eye and spoke softly, "We can call it Tehama."
